With a number of study abroad opportunities this upcoming school year, students may wonder where to start looking in their journey to go abroad. Participating in study abroad programs gives students the opportunity to become exposed to various cultures and gain a sense of what life is like in other countries. Some might suggest visiting a rural European countryside while others might suggest visiting a sprawling Asian metropolis. The Daily Texan compiled a list of some of the most interesting study abroad destinations for 2025.

    CET Shanghai

With a program fee of $19,290 for spring 2025, the CET Shanghai Study Abroad at Donghua University allows students to explore China’s culture and economic influence through specialized coursework and a part-time internship. Additionally, students in the program will be required to enroll in a Chinese language course, although the program accepts students at all language levels.

    National University of Singapore

One of the top universities in the region, the National University of Singapore hosts an exchange program available to students from all UT colleges and schools to apply. With the courses taught in English, students will have the opportunity to fulfill their degree requirements for the University while immersing themselves in one of the world’s most important economic centers. With a cost of $15,312, the program’s application closes on Aug. 25, 2024.

    University of Technology, Sydney

Through this exchange program, students of all majors have the opportunity to study abroad in the Australian city of Sydney. Students will take courses taught by local faculty that have an emphasis on research and reading done outside of class. Additionally, students will be just a few hours away from the capital city of Canberra.

    Accademia Italiana in Florence

For students interested in arts and Italian culture, Accademia Italiana in Florence is a prestigious art institute in Italy that offers study abroad programs for English-speaking students. The total estimated cost of the program is $23,337 and students must register for 16 credit hours including a four credit hour Italian course.

    API Tokyo

For students interested in studying in Japan, API Tokyo offers spring study abroad programs that run from the end of December until April. Starting at $19,900, students in this program will have the opportunity to visit areas across the country and take classes with local students. Students in any major are encouraged to apply for this program and can take up to 18 credit hours.
