MARQUETTE — This year’s scholarship recipients were recognized at a recent meeting of the Rotary Club of Marquette. Recipients are graduates of Marquette Senior High School and attend Michigan institutions.
A total of $13,500 was awarded from the Club’s Trust Fund. The club first began providing financial assistance in 1921 with a loan. Now, support is provided by the earnings from the Fund’s assets of approximately $230,000 for five bachelor degree students and two associate degree students. The awards for bachelor degree students are for four years if eligibility is maintained.
This year’s recipients (pictured from the left) at the meeting were
≤ Torrey Cookman who is studying Engineering at Western Michigan University. He is already participating in study abroad programs and has competed in Europe as a member of the US Luge Team.
≤ Nate Benninger will begin studies at Michigan Technological University in exercise science and will be on the football team.
≤ Rianna Modell will attend Northern Michigan University as she continues in the Middle College program to receive a certificate in industrial maintenance.
