Penn State Honorary Alumni Award: Richard Singer

Richard Singer has been a part of the Penn State Altoona family since 2002 when he began his nearly twenty-year tenure as an engineering faculty member. Singer also hosted and personally funded the college’s electro-mechanical engineering technology (EMET) study abroad trips. He also initiated the engineering abroad program at Penn State Altoona. This program, designed for Penn State Altoona EMET majors, focuses on relating work in design and engineering classes to hands-on application in the automotive industry in Germany.

Singer created an Open Doors Scholarship program that benefitted Penn State Altoona students enrolled in the Pathway to Success: Summer Start (PaSSS) program. He is passionate about students who attend Penn State Altoona. That passion inspired him to invest in their success, as well as the future of our EMET program. Singer and his wife, Jeane, were further motivated to make a transformational gift of $1 million to Penn State Altoona for a future naming opportunity.
