Students aspiring to study abroad have been advised to get expert advice, conduct research and make the right decisions before embarking on such academic journey.

Director, British Canadian International Education Ltd (BCIE), Naz Panju, who stated this at a media briefing in Lagos, said any wrong decision on where to study abroad can impact their finance and ultimately, their future.

With the decision by the United Kingdom and Canadian governments to review the dependents’ policy, Panju noted that the rejection rate would be very high.

She said: “Students seeking admission to Canadian institutions are going to face big visa refusal situation. So, we are trying to help our students because if they apply on their own, they will get a very high rejection rate.

“Once students come to us, we advised them based on their preference. If they want to take their dependents, then, we will suggest Australia or Canada at the moment,” she said. With the fluctuating exchange rate, Panju said students studying abroad now pay two to three times more for tuition.

“What this means is that studying abroad is more expensive and students need to be sure they are making the right decisions from the beginning. She, therefore, advised them not to always venture into studying abroad without any help or proper research.

She stated that the agency assists students in processing applications to join their families under the acceptable route, and most importantly, to alternative destinations in Australia and Canada.

Given their track record, Panju said universities in Australia, Canada and UK have mandated the agency to help prospective international students and make the processes easier.
