Please join us to learn more about the 2024 W&M Faculty-led study abroad program to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. The info session is open to prospective students who are thinking about applying by the extended Feb 1 deadline AND accepted students (who applied by Dec 4), who might still have some questions about the courses, overall rhythm and/or itinerary.

    About Santiago de Compostela
Santiago de Compostela’s Old Town, where students will be housed, is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city’s cathedral continues to serve as the crux for thousands of pilgrims every year, following the centuries old “Route of St. James” or Camino de Santiago, a medieval heritage route in Northern Spain that’s been reclaimed by modern travelers. Located in the northwest region of Galicia, the oldest part of the town is home to the winding stone streets of the medieval age, while the newer part is composed of more modern architecture.

    Program Information
While in Santiago de Compostela, students will immerse themselves in local lifestyles and cultures. Class excursions include museums, cathedrals, and other sites of pilgrimage within the city. In the first two weeks of the program, students will also travel to other cities and take part in day-long hikes that trace the pathways of medieval pilgrims. Other activities include cultural festivals, observing major local events, and participating in local food tours.
