This past summer, the UW–Madison School of Education launched four short-term, faculty-led study abroad programs tied to School of Education majors. These programs offered students a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to expand their worldview and build cultural awareness, all while learning valuable course content and earning credit towards their degrees.

Nearly one hundred students participated in these programs during the summer of 2023 – embarking on courses to explore team building in Costa Rica, theatre in London, education in the Galapagos, and movement/sedentary behavior in Portugal.

Thanks to generous donors the the School’s Impact 2030 initiative, scholarships were available for students with financial need.

In summer 2024, the School of Education is more than doubling the number of study abroad programs offered, including new opportunities to study in Ireland, Australia, Greece, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic. Learn more about summer 2024 study abroad opportunities, and find out how they connect to students’ interests and majors.

Also, read more about students’ experiences studying abroad in 2023 by following the links below. All of these programs are set to run again in summer 2024.
