The University of Hartford women’s golf team is ready to start their fall season with a great collection of tournaments that have them competing both near and far.
The Hawks return seven student-athletes from last year’s team, including junior Madeline Adam. She was perennially one of the top golfers in the spring, posting the lowest mark in four of the team’s five tournaments. Juniors Leslie Li, Lilly Moreau, and Grace Farland turned in some quality rounds for the Hawks, and will be looked up to help lead the Hawks in some fall tournaments.
Seniors Leah Jones and Sofia Rodas, who missed the spring season while studying abroad in Europe, also returning to the squad. Newcomers Abigail Crabtree and Julia Smith will push for a spot in the rotation.
After beginning the season by hosting the Hartford Hawks Invitational at Tumble Brook Country Club, the Hawks will accept an invitation to participate in The Big Sky 54 for IX Women’s Tournament. The golf tournament was created this season to celebrate 50 years of Title IX.
“With our familiarity with the golf course, we will have a great home course advantage and it will be an excellent opportunity to start the season well,” said Hartford Head Golf Coach Pete Stankevich.
Hartford returns to the East Coast to host a one-day invitational on October 2, and then travels for to the two-day Quinnipiac Classic beginning on October 2.
The team then wraps up the fall season with the NEIGA Championship at The Captains Course in Brewster, Massachusetts, which our women’s team won in 2017.
