The Study Abroad Fair took place Wednesday in the University Center’s Palo Duro Lounge, aiming to promote study abroad opportunities and scholarships accessible to students.

Study Abroad director Kelli Anderson said the fair is hosted every semester with the goal of providing students information about different opportunities and having them engage with the organizers of the study abroad program.

There are over 500 programs offered in 62 countries, she said. Students must be in good academic and disciplinary standing to study abroad, with most programs requiring a 2.5 GPA.

Anderson said students are able to use their current loans, grants and scholarships towards the study abroad program. There are also scholarships exclusive to students studying abroad that can provide additional aid.

The fair had a table dedicated to helping students with any financial aid questions and providing assistance with applications to the program and general questions.

Anderson said students being able to interact with people from different backgrounds and cultures will set them up for success.

“By studying abroad, a student is really able to take what they’re learning here at UTA and put it into practice in a global context,” Anderson said.

Information systems junior Oladimeji Bolumade said he came to the fair looking to explore the educational opportunities available in other countries. One of Bolumade’s interests is going into cybersecurity in Italy.

“I’ve always wanted to travel to Italy, so being able to find a job or career out there, that would be pretty nice,” he said.
