When it comes to choosing study abroad providers as a college student, you have many options. So, why should you choose AIFS Abroad? From our expertise to the social opportunities included in our programs, let’s go over some of the top factors that set AIFS apart.

Here are 7 reasons to choose AIFS Abroad:

    #1: Trusted and dependable

AIFS has been a leader in international education and cultural exchange since 1964. As one of the most experienced and trusted study abroad providers in the field, we are committed to providing high-quality programs that offer students the opportunity to have a transformative experience abroad.

#2: Support every step of the way

From the moment you start planning your study abroad experience, our dedicated staff is here to guide you and provide support. Not sure where or when to study abroad? Our team is here to answer your questions and guide you through the application and admissions process. Don’t want to deal with the stress of booking flights? We can help you with that. Need guidance on the visa process? That’s right —we can give you a hand with that, too!

Your support doesn’t stop once your plane takes off. All AIFS Abroad programs have professional, full-time staff onsite to help you with any questions or issues while you’re abroad.

    #3: Socially conscious

We believe in making study abroad sustainable and inclusive. Through our Green initiative, we are committed to working towards a carbon neutral future. AIFS Abroad is also committed to providing international education opportunities for people from all backgrounds. The AIFS Abroad Plan for AIDE (Access, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity) focuses on creating an inclusive environment where every student can gain the most from their experience abroad and will be treated with dignity and respect.

    #4: Program options

There’s an AIFS Abroad program for just about everyone. Choose from a wide range of program options that appeal to a variety of majors and motivations for going abroad — we even have volunteer and internship opportunities. Many of our programs offer different housing choices, so you can choose to stay in a student residence hall or apartment, or in a homestay with a local family.

When you choose AIFS Abroad, you have your choice of when and where to go abroad. We offer programs during the fall and spring semesters, summer term and during winter break.

    #5: Inclusive programs

Life can be complicated enough — studying abroad doesn’t need to be. That’s why AIFS Abroad offers inclusive program options.

Not all study abroad providers include this much with their programs*:

    • Cultural and social activities like performance and sporting events, city tours, and day trips
    • Excursions
    • Tuition
    • Housing
    • On-site Resident Director and Location Staff to help with questions or advice you may need throughout the program
    • 24/7 emergency support and comprehensive insurance
    • Access to the renowned Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment and our vast alumni network

    *Varies by program choice.

We also offer optional program components like our flight package. With the Optional AIFS Flight Package, we will arrange your round-trip airfare, meet you at the airport upon your arrival, and provide transportation to and from your program site on scheduled arrival and departure dates.

#6: Instant network of friends abroad

One major benefit of choosing a study abroad provider over independent study abroad? You can have a built-in network of study abroad friends from colleges and universities across the United States. When you choose AIFS Abroad, you end up surrounded by a group of people in the same situation — you’ve all taken the leap to get out of your comfort zone. It’s easy to bond with other students in your program through the many AIFS-organized social activities, excursions, and orientation.

“This experience – living in another country, traveling all the time, learning new cultures – is temporary, but the friendships made are not… I now have places to stay all over the country thanks to the friends I have from my first trip with AIFS.” — Mollie W., AIFS alum.

    #7: Grant and scholarship opportunities

We’re committed to providing financial assistance to as many students as possible. AIFS Abroad grants are automatically awarded to eligible students during the application process. That’s not all — we made it simple to apply for scholarships, too. You can apply for multiple scholarships to study abroad directly from your AIFS Abroad student account.

What sets us apart from other study abroad providers?

Here’s what some of our recent alumni have to say about why they chose AIFS Abroad:
