New Delhi: The craze for studying abroad has been increasing over the years. This is because of the availability of various choices, and respite of getting admission to international colleges. As per the data from the Ministry of External Affairs, around 1.3 million students opted for studying abroad in the year 2022. The top study-abroad destinations for Indian students are- the United States, Canada, UAE, and Australia.

As the process of getting admission to the top universities abroad gets simpler, aspirants now have multiple choices for pursuing their graduation and post-graduation in international colleges and universities.

    IELTS

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an English language assessment test which is mainly taken by those who wish to study overseas. The IELTS examination is conducted in India in partnership with the British Council, Cambridge Assessment English, and IDP: IELTS Australia. The test is conducted 48 times a year, for the Paper-based IELTS. The computer-delivered IELTS is conducted 7 days a week, and 3 times a day.

    TOEFL

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is conducted to assess the knowledge of the English language and the proficiency of non-native English speakers. Colleges and universities from Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, and many other countries ask for a TOEFL score to enrol with them. The exam can be attempted by two methods- the Paper-Based Test (PBT) and the Internet-Based Test (IBT). The internet-based test is comparatively more popular than the paper-based test.

    PTE

Pearson’s Test of English (PTE) The PTE test is quite different from the two previous tests due to some unique aspects. First, the scoring patterns of this test are very different because it relies completely on computerized technologies. Second, the results of this test also come quicker than similar tests. Generally, the results are declared within five days of taking the test. Therefore, it is recommended to take the PTE test when you are short on time due to limited availability and/or delayed results declaration.

    SAT

The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is conducted by the College Board of the US. This is conducted for admission to colleges in the USA, UK, Canada, Germany, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, and other countries. SAT question paper consists has three sections namely Evidence-Based Reading, Evidence-Based Writing, and Maths. The exam is conducted for 3 hours.

    LSAT

The Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is conducted for those who want to study at law schools abroad. The LSAT question paper comprises of sections such as Logical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Analytical Reasoning, and Unscored Variable. The duration of the exam is 3 hours and 30 minutes.
