From the Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowships in the United States to the Commonwealth Scholarships in the UK, these scholarships are designed to support Indian students in achieving their academic and career goals. 1. Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowships
The Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowships are awarded to outstanding Indian students who wish to pursue a master’s degree in the United States. The fellowship covers tuition fees, living expenses, and other costs. As per the eligibility criteria, students must have completed graduation.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or full-time master’s diploma
- At least 55 per in graduation is necessary
- Community service experience
- A minimum of 6.0 band in English language proficiency tests is required
2. Commonwealth Scholarships
The Commonwealth Scholarships are offered to Indian students who want to pursue postgraduate studies in the UK. This scholarship covers tuition fees, airfare, living expenses, and other allowances.
Eligibility
- Citizen of any commonwealth country or permanent resident in a developing Commonwealth country
- Candidates need to be below 40 years of age.
- Candidates should note have registered for the Master’s course in any other university
- Candidates must have been abroad for training, studies or their purpose
- A bachelor’s degree is necessary
- 60 per cent in Social science and 65 per cent in Science are required.
3. Chevening Scholarships
The Chevening Scholarships, funded by the UK government, are available to Indian students who wish to pursue a one-year master’s degree in the UK. This scholarship covers tuition fees, travel costs, and a monthly stipend.
Eligibility
- The candidate needs to be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory
- A UG degree is required to apply for a PG programme in a UK university
- Admission offer from one of the UK universities
- Return to the home country for at least two years after the completion of the award
- Minimum two years of work experience
- Chevening English language requirement
4. Inlaks Shivdasani Scholarships
- The Inlaks Shivdasani Scholarships are awarded to outstanding Indian students for studies in North America or Europe. This scholarship covers tuition fees, living expenses, and travel costs. It is open to students in various fields, including architecture, fine arts, applied arts, and sciences.
Eligibility
- Candidates need to be residents of India for the past six months
- 70 per cent academic grade is required if the student has opted for mathematics, science and similar subject
- A 65 per cent academic grade is required if the student has opted for humanities, law, fine arts, social science, and architecture courses.
5. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Scholarships
The ICCR Scholarships are available to Indian students who wish to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral studies abroad. The scholarship covers tuition fees, living expenses, and other allowances.
Eligibility
- Master’s, doctoral or post-doctoral degree in India
- ICCR does not offer scholarships in medical or paramedical
- Candidates with the age limit of 18 to 40 years (50 years for PhD candidates) with good academic records, background in relevant subjects and proficient knowledge of English can apply
