We recently had the privilege of assisting a Canadian entrepreneur in expanding their business to the U.S. through the E-2 visa program. Here’s a look at their journey and how we helped make it happen.

    Expanding to the U.S.

Our client, already running a successful business in Canada, wanted to tap into the U.S. market by opening a consulting firm. With this goal in mind, they established a U.S. company and made the necessary investments to get it off the ground. Their startup expenses included:

    • Rent for office space
    • Travel for business development
    • Payroll and contractor fees
    • Other business-related costs

With these investments in place, we began working on their E-2 visa application.

    Building the Case

We prepared a detailed application highlighting the client’s business plan, including their projections for growth, plans to generate revenue, and commitment to hiring U.S. workers. The application was submitted to the U.S. consulate in Toronto, where the client was scheduled for an in-person visa interview.

    Achieving Success

After the interview, the client was granted a five-year E-2 visa. Additionally, their U.S. company was registered under the Canada E visa program, enabling it to sponsor additional Canadian citizens for E-2 visas. This step opens up opportunities for the company to bring on both new hires and current employees from Canada as part of their U.S. operations.

    Looking Ahead

This successful outcome has set the client on a path to grow their consulting firm in the U.S. while contributing to the local economy. It’s always rewarding to help our clients achieve their business goals through thoughtful planning and careful preparation.

If you’re exploring ways to expand your business into the U.S. and need guidance on the E-2 visa process, feel free to reach out to our team. We’re here to help every step of the way.
