The Challenge: Cross-Border Engineering Support Needed

Our client, a respected engineering firm with operations in both Canada and the U.S., needed one of their Canadian employees, a Mechanical Engineer, to enter the U.S. on an intermittent basis. The employee’s specialized skills were essential for contributing to major ongoing engineering projects with U.S. clients.

    The Solution: TN Visa Application

Considering the employee’s Canadian citizenship and bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, the TN visa emerged as the ideal option. Under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), the TN visa allows qualified Canadian professionals, including Mechanical Engineers, to work in the U.S. temporarily.

We collaborated closely with the engineering firm and their employee to prepare a comprehensive TN application. The application highlighted the employee’s credentials and detailed how his expertise and role met the specific requirements of the TN classification.

    The Result: TN Approval Secured

The employee submitted the TN application at the U.S. border, where Customs and Border Protection (CBP) conducted a review and approved it. He was granted TN status for a period of three years, allowing him to travel to the U.S. as needed to contribute to the firm’s engineering projects.

This TN approval ensures that our client can leverage their employee’s expertise to maintain momentum on key U.S. projects. If your company has cross-border needs or questions about the TN visa, reach out to us today. We’re here to help you navigate your options!
