There’s so much happening at City College, the Express wanted to offer a place for students and staff to get essential information in an informative and efficient way. We will compile a brief list of all the crucial news the City College community needs to know every other week.

The program CityHub is now distributing boxes of fresh produce and food along with $25 gift cards in front of the City College bookstore every other Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. In order to pick up a box, students must pre-register through the Basic Needs Instagram account the day before pickup. The next giveaway will take place on Thursday, Nov. 2.

Students who haven’t registered to vote yet have an opportunity to with the Ballot Bowl program. This program was established by the California Secretary of State and works to increase voter registration among college students in California. This program spreads across the state and City College will be competing against other colleges to get the most students registered and if the College wins, various awards will be given out according to their website. Students who want to participate may register using this link.

Lillard Hall on City College campus has officially been renamed the Natural Sciences Building. This facility is located at the southwest corner of campus and is home to programs such as biology, chemistry, geology, physics and geography. This building will now be referred to online as NAS.

On Monday, Oct. 30, City College will host the Historically Black Colleges and Universities caravan tour from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the quad. At the event, there will be representatives from over 40 HBCUs, application workshops, student resource information and snacks! Anyone is welcome and for more information, students and families may email [email protected].

As City College gets into the spirit of fall, a clothing-swapping event will be held on campus Tuesday, Oct. 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Sustainability and Environmental Club is hosting this event in the quad and costumes are encouraged! The event is open to everyone, just make sure to bring some clothes that you’re willing to trade.
