Ready to kick your resume up a notch? Consider an internship abroad in Lisbon, Portugal! Here you’ll find professional growth opportunities galore paired with breathtaking views from Lisbon’s famous hills.

Let’s talk about 5 of the many reasons why you’ll love being an intern in Lisbon:

    1. You’ll be interning in a thriving city.

Don’t be fooled by its age – this city is not stuck in the past. Despite being one of the oldest cities in the world, Lisbon has a lot of modern perks. Recently, tech industry giants like Amazon and Google have started investing in Portugal. The city’s rapid growth in many industries means there are a lot of exciting opportunities to intern abroad in Lisbon.

Popular internship fields in Lisbon include:

    • IT
    • Graphic Design
    • Communications
    • Social Media
    • Marketing
    • Business
    • (and many more!)

    2. Lisbon is budget-friendly.

In general, Portugal is less pricey than many Western European countries. Food, entertainment and public transportation are all fairly affordable. This makes Lisbon a great option if you want to intern abroad without breaking the bank.

    3. Two words: the food.

For some of the best restaurants in Lisbon, head to Time Out Market. You can find Portuguese staples like pastéis de nata (custard tarts), bacalhau à bras (codfish with potatoes and eggs), and more at this open-air food court.

    4. You don’t need to speak Portuguese to intern abroad in Lisbon.

While some Portuguese language skills are always useful, there are many internship opportunities for English speakers. That being said, picking up some of the Portuguese language while in Lisbon can pay off. As the 6th most spoken language in the world, learning Portuguese opens opportunities in the global market.

    5. It’s (almost) always sunny in Lisbon.

The city’s sunshine and comfortable climate pair well with its beautiful coastlines. What better way to blow off steam on your days off than by lounging on the beach? And if you’re feeling extra adventurous, Lisbon is close to several Blue Flag beaches that attract surfers from around the world.

As an intern in Lisbon, you can nourish your professional skills and wanderlust.

Lisbon has great internship opportunities in business, marketing, politics, fashion, and more. Did we mention that AIFS Abroad makes it easy to enjoy your life-changing experience? Our programs are designed to include housing, on-site support, excursions, professional development resources and more. That means you can focus on making memories you’ll never forget!
