Ready for an amazing adventure? Spend your fall semester studying abroad in Prague with AIFS! You’ll get to experience the rich culture and history of this beautiful city, all while earning credits towards your degree. Plus, AIFS offers plenty of activities and events that will help you gain a deeper understanding of Czech culture.

Prague is the perfect place to study abroad during your fall semester — here’s why:

    1. Program Options

Did you know? No previous Czech language study is needed to study or intern abroad in Prague with AIFS.

When you study abroad in Prague with AIFS, you can choose from program options at not one, but two, prestigious Czech universities: Charles University and the University of Economics (VŠE).

    🏫 Charles University

Choose from two exciting program options at Charles University, the largest university in the Czech Republic:

📖 East and Central European Studies Program:

Students choosing the East and Central European Studies Program can earn up to 18 credits per semester. This program is designed for students who want to gain a deeper understanding of the history, culture and development of Eastern and Central Europe. Courses are taught in English and offered in a range of subject fields including art and culture, Czech language, economics, film studies, history, literature, music, political science, psychology, sociology and theater.

    📖 Study + Internship Program:

Internships are available with a variety of Prague-based organizations, ranging from production, marketing, IT and administrative assistant placements to teaching English in a local elementary school. In addition to your internship, you can select up to four courses from the East and Central European Studies Program to earn up to 18 credits per semester.

    🏫 University of Economics (VŠE)

The University of Economics, Prague (VŠE) is the largest public university of economics in the Czech Republic and consistently ranked as one of the best business schools in Central and Eastern Europe.

📖 Central and East European Studies Program (CESP):

Taught in English, this program offers students insight into the past, present and future of the developing economies, societies, politics, and languages of Central and Eastern Europe. Select up to four courses and earn up to 12 credits per semester. Courses are available in business, Czech language, finance, history, international relations, management, marketing, politics, psychology and sociology.

    2. Excursions and Activities

“In my Art and Architecture class we did lots of walking field trips to actually witness the Baroque style throughout the city. This is a very different experience than if you were to see a photo of the same thing in a textbook or on Google from your home university. This is the beauty of study abroad — getting the chance to not just learn about something, but to experience it as well.” – Addison P., AIFS in Prague, Czech Republic alum.

When you spend your fall semester studying abroad in Prague with AIFS, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to explore the city and beyond. We include a range of excursions and cultural activities in our program, so you can really immerse yourself in everything that the Czech Republic has to offer. From overnight excursions to historic wine regions to walking tours throughout Prague, there’s something for everyone.

Typical excursions and cultural activities in Prague include:

    • A 2-day trip to Moravia.
    • A visit to a Bohemian glass factory.
    • A boat cruise on the Vltava River.
    • Castle trips and day trips to nearby towns, including hiking in the countryside.
    • Czech cooking classes.
    • Visits to famous cafés in Prague.
    • Events such as concerts, festivals and markets that take you off the tourist trail.

…And much more — including optional excursions to Poland and Austria!

    3. Life in Prague

While studying abroad in Prague during the fall semester, you’ll live with other AIFS students and international students in a student residence hall. Conveniently located within easy reach of stores, restaurants and public transport, the Prague student residence hall features double rooms, a shared kitchen on each floor, 24-hour security and on-site laundry facilities and a gym.

The AIFS Office is located in the heart of the city, in one of the oldest parts of Prague. Here you can find a student center, library and computer lab (with free printing!). Our on-site staff are there to help you with anything you need during your time abroad.
