The Meghalaya government has decided to create an online database to get contact details of all students from the State studying outside the country.
According to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, every student from Meghalaya studying outside will be asked to register in the database along with all details and contact numbers.
“Once you are in our database if there’s any situation in a matter of just seconds, we will be able to bring out all the details of our students, who are there and the contact numbers,” he said.
Sangma said that the State government has faced a lot of problems in the past as it does not have direct contact with students studying abroad.
He said that the proposal regarding creation of the online database will be taken up in the next cabinet meeting for approval.
