Success Story: A U.K. Tech Company Opens a U.S. Office With an E-2 Visa

When a highly successful IT company in the U.K. noticed an increasing demand for its services from U.S. clients, its founder began to consider the next big step: opening a U.S. subsidiary. With this vision in mind, they reached out to our firm to explore the possibility of establishing a U.S. office through the E-2 visa program.

    Making the Investment

To set the foundation for U.S. operations, the client formed a new U.S.-based company and made a substantial investment in its startup. This included various expenses such as legal fees, participation in trade shows, office rent, and travel expenses, along with other necessary administrative and professional costs. Additionally, the U.K. parent company made a significant capital contribution to support the U.S. business’s initial operating expenses, demonstrating a strong commitment to the venture.

Building a Strong Case for the E-2 Visa

Our team diligently prepared the E-2 visa application, emphasizing the client’s commitment to a sustainable and impactful business presence in the U.S. This included a detailed business plan outlining the company’s growth strategies, revenue targets, and a projection of hiring U.S.-based employees to support its operations.

Once the application was ready, we submitted it to the U.S. Embassy in London, where the client attended an in-person interview. After a successful interview, the client was issued a five-year E-2 visa, marking a significant milestone in the company’s journey to expanding its services across borders.

Benefits of E Visa Business Status

Alongside the issuance of the E-2 visa, the client’s U.S. company achieved registration as an “E visa business” within the U.K.’s E visa program. This designation is a powerful advantage, allowing the U.S. subsidiary to sponsor additional U.K. employees for E-2 visas, further supporting the expansion of U.S. operations with familiar, skilled team members from abroad.

    Looking Forward

With the E-2 visa secured, the U.K. client is now primed to expand its footprint in the U.S. market, meeting growing demand and positioning itself as a key player in the IT sector. As the U.S. subsidiary grows, the client envisions a thriving business that will create jobs and drive innovation, bridging expertise between the U.K. and U.S.
