22 WKU students earned the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship for study abroad in the October 2023 application cycle, more than all of Kentucky’s other colleges and universities combined.  (More: Complete list of October 2023 recipients in national competition) The Gilman Scholarship broadens the student population that studies or interns abroad by supporting undergraduates who might not otherwise participate due to financial constraints. The 22 WKU recipients in this application cycle earned scholarships totaling $77,500 with an average award amount of $3,500.  Of those who worked with the Office of Scholar Development, 52% of WKU applicants were named recipients. Students, faculty and staff from Texas A&M University spent two weeks exploring Antarctica. TAMU Antarctica   Texas A&M University’s first study abroad trip to Antarctica late in the fall semester included 36 students, faculty and staff from multiple disciplines who spent two weeks exploring Earth’s southernmost tip.
