And some was done independently, making decisions for ourselves. Sherrie was one of my fellow students. We were kindred spirits in a way. Shortly after I met her, she introduced me to the singer Bonnie Raitt by convincing…

With all the tension that exists in Israel, and especially in the period leading up to Rosh Hashanah, was it really necessary to try to unseat Yad Vashem chairman Dani Dayan? On the other hand, the support and kudos that Dayan has received from far and wide are a compensatory balm for the…
On August 24, 2023, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced a new update to its policy manual clarifying a previous policy change aimed at expanding green card eligibility under the Child Status Protection Act (CSPA) for children who lost eligibility, or “aged out”, due to the years-long visa backlogs. Before getting into the new update, it’s important to understand the role of the CSPA and a new interpretation announced earlier this year by USCIS. The 2002 law protects noncitizens who were previously considered children (meaning they were unmarried and under 21 years old) when their parent’s family- or employment-based…
When applying for a U.S. visa, one necessary step involves attending an in-person visa interview. During this session, a consular officer will evaluate your qualification for the visa. You may be asked about several topics such as the purpose of your travel, employment, financial standing, educational background, and your familial and residential circumstances. The primary goal of this interview is to ascertain your eligibility for the specific visa category for which you are applying. Certain individuals who meet the necessary requirements can skip the interview and continue to the final stages of the application process. Known as the dropbox process,…
